Key Lime Pie: Made by Nikki & Jamie
I figured I would write about Valentine’s Day since it happened yesterday. I was wondering what other couples were doing and how many people make extreme plans for the holiday. I was happy with the way the day turned out because it was relaxing and fun.
Carlos bought me roses and got me an extremely sweet card. He also got Jamie and Jess each a rose and chocolates which was so cute!
Jamie made chocolate covered strawberries for everyone (and I had about 5 yesterday) and then she helped me make Carlos a Key Lime Pie, which is his favorite, from scratch. It was so much fun to make, especially because it wasn’t too hard and it tasted so good when it was done. (I am not a good cook whatsoever.) Carlos loved it and said it was the best pie he’s ever had. I felt so accomplished.
At StarCostumes I found some interesting facts about V-Day. One of the facts I really like is:
South Koreans practice Valentine’s Day a little differently. On February 14, it’s typically the girls who give chocolates to the boys they love. The boys get to return the favor with non-chocolate gifts on “White Day”, which is on March 14. Those who didn’t get gifts on those days can mourn their singlehood on Black Day (April 14) by eating black noodles. These three are only the most popular of the country’s love celebrations; there’s actually one for every month!
It’s nice that everyone gets their time to celebrate…and I could use some non-chocolate gifts to save my waistline.
I know when I’ve been single on Valentine’s Day it can be the worst day ever, because all around you, couples and lovey-dovey merchandise is in your face. If you’re single, it is a key day to plan something with your friends. If you’re in a relationship, depending on how seriously you take the holiday, it can be fun and something to look forward to if you have set plans. I have been in a relationship for Valentine’s Day before, and it was not romantic or fun whatsoever. In college, I remember a specific V-day that was so uneventful that it made the day seem terrible. I watched as my boyfriend’s roommate made dinner, put rose petals on his bed, and made a bath for his girlfriend…while my boyfriend played Halo. We ate their leftovers for dinner and then at about 9pm he said, “You want to watch a movie?” Of course…it’d be my pleasure…ass.
Even if people view it as a silly holiday – it’s nice to get something that day – whether it be a card, candy, or just special treatment. I hope everyone had a fun day!
Jamie and Carlos spreading some Valentine’s Day love.

Ohh Carlos is just a sweetheart. We did flew to Arizona on Valentine’s Day and Carson says that’s my Valentine’s Day present. It’s our first VDay married and we didn’t even get each other a card.
