Today’s Topic: The Flu, A Blizzard and an Anniversary…
Yesterday at 2am, I woke up with a terrible head cold and bad stomach ache. Little did I know that the flu was about to attack me. I spent from 2am to 7am laying on my bathroom floor trying to survive. This is the first year I hadn’t gotten a flu shot, and the first year I got the flu. I’m an idiot and could punch myself for not getting my flu shot. Trust me, it’s not worth it.
Anyway, I tried to work from home, between spurts of attempting sleep and trying to feel better. It’s now 3:30am, the day after. I am wide awake. I didn’t eat much yesterday, so I believe that is part of the problem. My stomach is cramping because it’s hungry, but food just seems like the worst thing ever when you have the flu. My attempts at eating a piece of bread right now are pathetic…but it has to be done. I went to bed at 8pm last night, so I think that didn’t help at all either.
On top of that, there’s a blizzard outside. I can barely see out of our windows and I’m reading Facebook status updates of people in a ditch in their cars, sleeping at bars, and in their cars (not meant to rhyme)…terrible. My friend Kristin and her husband Mark both got their cars stuck in a ditch yesterday. This weather is NO joke. I don’t know if people are going into the office today, but I might not, just because I am still not over my cold and going outside just doesn’t seem like a good idea.
And finally, it’s me and Carlos’s 2-Year Anniversary! I wish I didn’t have the flu during it, but I guess that’s life. We planned on going to dinner, but looks like we’ll be eating whatever is in the house! It’s okay, though, we got a hotel this weekend for a “Staycation” which should be really fun. I’m hoping and praying I feel myself again by that time.
Okay, off to try to feel better…I’m over this feeling!
